Election Commission Concludes Meeting: Announcement of Dates for Five States’ Election may get announced on Wednesday

Amid a spate of speculations about the dates of elections in five states, Election Commission today held an important meeting with the in-charge of all five states that are going in poll early this year. The Commission may declare dates of Election on Wednesday. On Monday, if the sources of the is to be believed, the Commission also held meeting with the chiefs of the Para-Military Forces and discussed about the deployment and transit of the forces. As Commission takes note of all these measures at the time of election, the meeting with the chiefs assumes great importance.

Declaration of Dates of Election by Wednesday Evening

As the Commission has already held meeting with the chiefs of the Para-military Forces and the input from these chiefs have already been conveyed to the in-charge of the poll-going five states, it has been now widely speculated that by Wednesday evening the Commission will announce the dates of election. The sources of the Home Ministry have also opined that the announcement may come by Wednesday itself.

The Poll-bound States

It is important to know that Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur are those states that are going to poll this year. The delay in the declaration of the election in these states is widely associated with delay in the board examination. Though election in almost all the states assumes similar significance, but that of Uttar Pradesh is much important as the outcome of the election in the most populous state more or less will decides the credibility of the Union Government.
